Pakistan = Terrorist Country?

Are we actually right in terming the entire country of Pakistan a terrorist nation? Well, that is what this blogpost is all about.

A country is what its people are. All Pakistani’s are not terrorists. So, Pakistan cannot be a terrorist nation.

A country is what its leaders show it to be. Pakistani leaders show that it is vulnerable to Muslim fundamentalists like the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and have given residence to international terror figures like Dawood Ibrahim, Osama Bin Laden, Mullah Mohammed Omar and other Jehadis. So, Pakistan is a “vulnerable” country, but not a “terrorist” country.

We have been having riots often in India, floods, heat waves, cold waves, poverty, dalit atrocities, violence against women, rapes, harassment, slums, underworld chaos, innumerable number of accidents etc etc. but are we ready to accept if India is known as the land of “Death”? Or a Death Nation? Or a Poor Nation?

As Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru once put, “India is a very rich country with poor people”.

Since time immemorial, India has been displayed to the world as a strange land, having superstitions, beggars, bullock carts, snake charmers, tigers, internal strife etc. It is this assumption of the world that is hurting us even to this day. A cousin of mine was asked in the US of A whether we still have bullock carts. This dude has answered that,

“We are a land of diversity such that, though one US can hold 3 Indias in area, one India can hold 13 USs of population. We do have bullock carts and Honda cars on the same streets, We do have Toyota and Mitsubishi competing with each other on Indian roads, We do have people owning BMWs and Mercedes Benz’s in the same house, We do have snake charmers and snake catchers who have a NGO society of their own to help in the research of Snake Venom and we have been outsourcing our knowledge (both technical and social) from time immemorial to the world!”

Way to go dude.. I loved the pride in his voice when he told me about this. Though I wasn’t present in front of him to view the American’s expression, I am damn sure it would be an expression worth a mastercard ad – PRICELESS!!

J&K has been a bone of contention between India and Pakistan from the very beginning. I remember a joke when i speak abt J&K and Pakistan. Lemme quote that here now and then proceed.

An Indian, in one of the UN General Assemblies, is supposed to speak about some peace between India and Pakistan about Kashmir. Everyone is waiting with bated breath when the Indian starts. He says:

“Kashmir is named after the great sage “Kashyapa”. It so happened once that the sage went to the river Bhagirathi (now Ganga) to take a dip and had removed all his belongings to keep them on the banks of the river. When he is back from the dip, he finds that all his belongings were gone. Due to his Divya Drishti (vision extraordinaire), he sees a Pakistani running away with this belongings”

At that time, the Pakistani in the assembly stands up and shouts:

“There was no Pakistan at that time”

So, the Indian is quick enough to retort that “So, now that we have made it clear about no Pakistan existing and Kashmir existing, let’s continue”

What I would like to point out here that from time immemorial, Kashmir is known to be the Crown Jewel in Asia due to its picteresque valleys and lakes and the existance of the great Himalayas. But you ask any small kid, be it an Indian kid or any kid across the world, he would term Kashmir as the land of violence, land of contention between India and Pakistan, merciless killings of innocent people (Note – Religion does NOT play a part here) in the name of freedom struggle or by terrorists etc etc.

If my knowledge of History is not wrong, I remember having read that the King of Kashmir did not accede to the Indian request to join the Indian sovereign nation and that is the reason why Kashmir still has a different constitution and the rest of India has a different one. As per my understanding, Mr. Jinnah, the Father of Pakistan, never demanded for J&K to be a part of Pakistan. It was the King of Kashmir who put across that idea that he would either like to make Kashmir be a part of Pakistan (the so called Muslim country) or have a different constitution. The Indian freedom fighters and leaders at that time, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B R Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel then decided to give a seperate constitution. Mr. Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India, had indeed expressed a desire to take the Indian Armed forces onto Kashmir and make it a part of the sovereign of India, which had been suppressed by the other leaders.

The Britishers have to be blamed for having seeded the thought of religious bias amongst the Indians. We were all united in our freedom struggle and the Britishers agreed to give us independence provided we make a seperate country for the muslims and have a seperate country for Hindus. But, it is common knowledge that Pakistan too has a good amount of Hindus and Hindu temples like India having muslims and mosques. So, in what context can you name India as a country of Hindus and Pakistan as a Muslim country?

I overheard a discussion about the everlasting strife between the USA and Russia. An old man was very quick to point out that since India has the support of Russia from quite long, Pakistan is being supported by the USA. And now that there is no existance of the USSR, the USA wants to have a stronghold in Asia too and that is the reason why it is supporting Pakistan by giving economic grants though it knows very well that the Taliban is having a lot of power these days in Pakistan and that there is a lot of internal strife happening within Pakistan. There is also open and evident links for all terrorist activities with Pakistan. Why would USA still support Pakistan after all these statements about fighting against Terror and not supporting any country which supports Terrorism?

I couldn’t do much but agree with the old man’s logic. But I again feel, USA wants to have dominance over the entire world and it wants peace. It also wants a name amongst the other nations that it is the only country which is striving for peace during these turbulent times.

I reiterate that you cannot term a country to be a terrorist country or a good country without knowing the entire truth about the same. You cannot term a country based upon its people. You can term a country on its economy that it is an advanced country, developed country, developing country or underdeveloped country. But, biasing countries on the qualities of its people, I don’t want to do that!
